    Oh,,, sounds very bad news for skype.... i heard that china also banned the Google search engine in whole china and done prohibited.... and they use thier own search engine.

    Some times i wonder that why china does all this .. because they dont actually use others technology.... !!!

    I think it's a mix of them wanting to preserve their culture (fair enough) and paranoia from the hierarchy about information leaks (weird)
    If a Chinese General had a look on face book he would soon realize that the only way it could kill would be through boredom.

    It's an old thread but I thought I'd add my piece. Everything is banned in China. I went there recently and I could not even access Facebook or Google, but they have very good reasons for doing this!

    It's actually pretty easy. I lived in China for 2 years and there are numerous ways around government censorship. I had access to Youtube, Facebook, Skype, and all other so-called blocked websites without any problems.
