So here is another posting contest coming up Jan 4, 2009 - Jan 25, 2009.

4 prizes total.

Prizes: 4 Prizes
1st prize: $70
2nd prize: $50
3rd Prize: $30
4th Prize: $20

Rules:

- Contest is open for existing and new members all. If you don't have an account, you may register an account.

- Contest would be based on posts you make and referrals to your friends. There is no direct point for referrals but every post your referred friend make you get point. When your referred friend register ask them put your username as the referrer.

- ONLY POSTS MADE DURING THE CONTEST PERIOD COUNTS. PREVIOUS POSTS DOES NOT COUNT

- Posts on any categories would be counted except the General Talk.

- POSTS WITH LIVE LINKS ON IT WOULD NOT BE COUNTED.If you need to post a link, post it as code.
- All posts must be meaningful. Yes, no, good, bad, nice post these type
of short answers would not be counted. Do not just post to make a post; doing so would bring down your total quality factor and you would actually hurt your points doing that.

- New threads, replies to posts all counts. Each new thread and reply worths 2 points. Each post your referred members make you get 1 point. Posts from referred members during the contest period would be counted--previously referred members would not be counted.

- Quality of posts is a major factor getting better points. If your posts have lower quality you may get less points per posts. We have a script to calculate points, that also measures the quality of posts in different ways.

- Winners will be declared and paid within 2 days after the contest ends.

- Minimum 60 posts (threads and posts any) during the contest period.

- One account per person; meaning one person can win only one prize.

- Payments would be made via PayPal only.

- Webcosmo forums admin(s) are excluded from this contest but moderators would be in for the contest.

would be pretty much same as the current one. i am thinking of changing some rules though. one thing gonna change for sure; more checks on post quality.

any suggestion would be great though

certainly a good idea.

another problem is answers like "yes its good", "nice one".... I don't know how to detect them, people use so many different slangs

Don't bother about that things buddy...It certainly can happen but if it's just be the replies like - Yes it's good or nice one - then make a constraint to not count it. Make a set of words count in the replies.

how about checking the posts manually manik? well, though there are lots of post daily, only few would be worth giving points to, and surely you read most parts of the forums so I don't think it would be that hard for you, plus you do have your staff in this forum irght>?
