This is what exactly you have to do for webmasters setup.

Register you site to webmaster tool and you will get a html code that is pasted in to your website's home page in head section.

first of register your site in the web master tool and then Your site using Google Webmaster Tools and you just mail in the registration you will receive a confirmation code. Place within the source code of your site in one of the head to insert the code.
