Own The Code
If you are making a website using a programmer, you don't own the code; rather the programmer does. Unless you mention that on the contract.
I will tell you a true story I saw few years back. A company hired a guy to make an e-commerce website and paid him around $60,000 for that. The website was developed in ASP .NET. After the site launched the company wanted the source code to have another guy work on it do some modifications.
Guess what the programmer said. He said its his intellectual property, if the company wants it he is willing to sell it for x amount of money.
So if you are developing a website, make sure to mention it on the contract to avoid unnecessary complications.Free Classified Ads & BUSINESS/PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL NETWORK
