I would recommend you go with link push. After that you can diversify you link structure and blast a linkwheel and a link piramid.

A link push is basically a backlink pointing to your website and this link has one tier or more of backlinks poiting to it. Like a chain of backlinks. This is similar to a pyramid link, the difference being that a linkpush doesn't make use of interlinking.

Or you can use both without making the difference among the two. A link push is nothing more that pointing links to a site which is suppose to augment the tier site back to your site. This is does nothing for your site unless you have one thing, established PR at the tier one site, other than that it is a waste of time. It is better to use proper and ethical procedure following the guidelines than pointing a links to one site "believing" that the site will get a "push" to increase serps. Hogwash. Prove it!

Yes of course the backlinks quality matters.
