Internet search giant Google Inc is known for hosting the most extravagant holiday parties in Silicon Valley, often drawing crowds of over 10,000 and prompting some employees to post ads for party dates on classifieds website Craigslist.

But even Google has decided to scale back its holiday celebrations this year due to a global economic downturn and an ever-expanding workforce that had grown to 20,000 in October, according to a person familiar with the matter.

anyone know where I could apply to be a Google personnel? lol... dream on should I say.
i think the economic problem is not just affecting those big companies and small companies but even the average joe, though I don't feel it that much, soon it would have an effect on my lifestyle...

it could be, but who knows right, if the economy goes worse, we may have to be affected, I can already see some effects in some of my sites, specially with my car site, there are less visitors and most of them only buys the cheaper cars nowadays. people are being more practical, that is what I am looking at now, how to be practical for my visitors.

Getting less visitors is something else. I don't think, it's by eco crisis. From how long, you are getting that kind of client's Jabo who are only interested in low cost cars.

It can also be that you are only promoting the low cost cars.

just a few days... well, hopefully the problem is not with my site as well. I am still into analyzing this, the drop in traffic is not that huge but its significant... will give you my findings in a few days about it.

Team holiday activities will include spending an afternoon volunteering followed by evening social activities such as dinner parties and museum outings in San Francisco.

This is a striking difference from previous years, when Google holiday parties included ice sculptures of the company's logo, virtual reality video game stations, karaoke booths, sushi buffets and burlesque dancers.

Google don't want to be in loss due to this global downturn in economy so they are also changing accordingly.

yes,that was on the cards seeing the global meltdown,cost cutting will be at the forefront,even sun microsystems cut down 5000 employees seeing their market Capital dwindle over the past few months.
