Very interesting thread i prefer long tail keyword is good for me, I have successfully got some top spot at Google for the long tail.

Yeah! that's because long tail keywords have less competition and easily achievable.

I am also preferring long tail keywords. It gives faster results because of lower competition

Yes, i agree with you govind, with the help of long tail keywords we can achieve good ranking for short keywords also.

From last one month i am trying to get SERP for hand dryers keyword so i am targetting manufacturers hand dryers keyword and now i am getting both keywords in top 10 on Google

I agree long keywords are less competitive but you need to research google market and find out the most popular keywords. Also you need to check the competitive keywords. Why to waste time on less searched keywords. We need to work on those keywords which are searched heavily on google and try to lift SERPs to the first page.

This can be done with KEI index. Select keywords that has less KEI and start working on it.

i think long tail keywords....can help you rank your keywords... because, i think when you do long tail you can put 2 keywords

To compete with thousands of relevant business, its better to start and go for a long tail keyword. You can target a minor keyword to gain higher ranking. And if you meet the right spot for the long tail kw, its maybe the time for you to try the major one.

In my Experience in beginning time need to long tail keyword after 2-3 week need to add some short keyword...one more important think when select your keyword need a analysis traffic and no. of volume point of view keyword play major roll in your site...

For me, if the kws are competitive I will start using long tail kws first. But if not competitive I will use the short keywords.
