If politicians can endorse, We should be able to endorsePaid links for ranks is not encouraged by search engines. They actually forbid using it. Google even have a paid link report page.
If you followed the 2008 US election, I am sure you have seen politicians each other showing their support for the one they like.
My question is why can't we as webmasters endorse the sites we like? Its our right to earn money. After all we are not stealing, rather doing a legit business. If anybody got problem, thats the algorithms search engines have to determine ranks; guys fix your algo.

Very good analogy kind of comparison Manik, I wouldve never thought of that, guess Google is sort of lazy at times since they have so much on their hands.
