What is the disadvantage of SEO?

i dont think it would have any disadvantage.

It takes a while to see results. You have to be consistant with it...

There is one big disadvantage if you look at whole situation. Spam is all over the place. Good thing is that Google and other major search engines can successfully filter their results so it's not visible in 99%. But problem lies in pages with spammy links.

It becomes a disadvantage when you're doing it wrong, like performing a black hat SEO.

I agree, Seo turns only disadvantage if you use it in the wrong way because you want an instant result.
Which is google don't like it.

The major disadvantage with SEO is when your business is purely dependent on the SERP rankings & Google happens to modify its algorithm, you may even see a sudden shuffle of your keywords which may impact your business.

Agreed That Black Hat Seo is one of the most prominent disadvantage! Organic Seo is always fruitful process but you have to become for patient for acquiring Desired Results!

The main disadvantage in SEO is if your competitor does a quality SEO, the ranking of your site drops in SERP.

Highly visible websites receive significantly more visitors, both welcome and unwelcome. This will result in a large increase in unwanted contacts such as spam and sales calls.This adds an admin cost to the business and is a real disadvantage of SEO.

If it is done correctly there are no disadvantages.
