Reverse SEO is the process of removing (technically de-ranking) websites other than your own from the first pages of Google.Reverse SEO has become one of the most effective strategies for minimizing the impact of bad publicity within the search engines’ organic listings. It is an online reputation management (ORM) tool of SEO consultants who manage Online Reputation Management. Too often, companies become targets for negative press online.

i completely agree with inflexi. You can rank up your site by decreasing rank of your competitor with the help of spam in competitors site. you can say it as black hat technique.

reverse search engine optimization (reverse seo), reverse search engine optimisation (the act of rendering a search engine's results optimal by decreasing the rank of potentially negative results or bad press) "the simultaneous optimization of intended results while decreasing or eliminating unintended results"; "in an optimization problem we seek values of the variables that lead to an optimal value of the function that is to be optimized"; "to demote the optimization and diversification of a search engine result."

Reverse SEO is the process of removing (technically de-ranking) websites other than your own from the first pages of Google.
The steps to perform reverse SEO are given below.
Identify the bad reputation with regards to the brand / business keyword
Analyze the competitive edge of that bad reputation site – backlinks, on site structure, social media authority, etc…
Build on the keyword using off-site SEO on websites and other web properties you don’t owBuild on the SEO of websites and web properties that you own
Interlink those properties
Get the backlinks of that bad reputation page and point them to your properties
Repeat until desired effect is achieved
