Hits may be an html page, a graphic image, an audio file, a CGI script, etc. So, hits are the total number of requests that were received during the specified report period. Each "visit" is composed of many more "hits". For example, when a browser requests one page on your site, your reports will record 1 hit for the page request, plus 1 more hit for each image or other object (flash object, javascript file, etc) that was referenced on that page. That is why hits are always greater than visits.Visits are also grouped by time. The reports do this by looking at the IP address of the browser and calculates the amount of time since a visitor's last request (if any). If the time difference is greater than a pre-configured 'visit timeout' value (or has never made a request before), it is considered a 'new visit'. So, if a browser accesses your site and then returns hours later, after the timeout, each access counts as a separate visit. The default timeout value varies per analyzer. You may change the timeout length.

The traffic is the amount of data sent and received by the visitors to a website. The traffic is measured by number of visitors and number of pages they visit. If the visitors come your site then just skip to another one your site will get one visit but the traffic of site is will not increase if the visitors spend much time by sending and receiving and gathering information in your site for long time then the site traffic will increase.

Visit - Is someone who comes to your Web site and looks around a bit. They may go to one page or they may go to 100 pages, but they are still only visiting once.
View - Is how many pages were seen by that visit
Hit - Is how many physical resources were requested from the server by that visit. Pages are made up of many items (images, text, etc). Each of those is a hit, while a view is the page itself.Web Development Services - Shopping Cart - PrestaShop, Zencart

This is how: A person has come upon your site. When he stays for a short time, it's just a (quick) visit; like he scans it and get out of it. When he stays longer then you've got traffic. It may mean he likes your site or just plain curious. But what matters is converting traffic and visits into customers.

A traffic source visit is counted every time a traffic source is "clicked" by the user. However, the total visit count is different. It is likely that a traffic source visit count is incremented while the total site visit count is not.
