"Maddy" ...500 TO 700 is fine. But according to Google recent updates that should have perfect English and least spammy Keywords. Literally, one should provide Keywords according to the need otherwise your website would not rank well in SERPs.

It should be 200-250 not more than that.

You can have 250 words article with unique and quality content ranking in the top. But articles with 500-700 words with low quality content may not be rank well on Search Engines. You should focus on the topic and write according to the need. Keep the natural length of article don't try to stretch to include the extra keywords and phrases. Use bullets and statistical information (if you find any related to topic) in the article to make it more user friendly and SEO friendly.
