There are many ways to get backlinks but the most important ways in my opinion are forum posting and link exchange.

Yes forum posting is source of knowledge as well give the do follow back link but I disagree with link exchange because link exchanging is risky for website.

For getting good number of backlinks you should forum posting. Because it's one of the top method to get good amount of backlinks as well as quality backlinks. But ensure that you should do it in proper way and do at least five comment per day. Be a regular member of any forum community and make informative and helpful comments.
