yes, you can rank but only for very less competitive keywords bethought links because search engine passed value for link popularity only if you don't have any back link then very hard to rank well with most competitive keywords.

Yes I am agree with tochandresh. You can rank high at search engines if your keyword have less competition or there is keyword in your domain name..

Right less competition , unique and fresh content and seo friendly domain name is good to getting Good PR .

I think Rajiv I agree with you that with the original and unique contents you can get the high PR but I thin link building is very effective to get high PR.

it will be a very tough think to have rank without backlinks. maintaining unique contents and low competitive keywords can help you a lot. but backlinks from relevant sites can increase your PR very quickly.

Hmmm....I think you can. But the content must be keyword rich as well as unique. Ranking this way you might not be able to target the competitive keyword that generate real revenue for you which is the aim of the business. Build a few links but that too relevant, high PR, with quality content & dofollow if possible. If you abide all the above rules, yes you can be the 'king'.
