Can anybody explain about PING.

PING is a way of telling SE's that you have an update on your site..
By this, SE's like google can easily detect your fresh content..

Of course, you only have to ping (example is your blog) every time you have a new fresh update on it.

Pinging is the process by which you let the search engine know what exactly you have made any changes in your site or otherwise about the web pages that you have that is available for getting crawled by search engine crawler.
Basically it is the process of waking up the search engine to know about the web pages you are having in your site.

I totally agree with you . If one want to ping some blog one can use a site pingomatic(dot)com to ping their site.
