What is Alexa Rank and what is the difference between Google Rank and Alexa rank.

Alexa provide the information about website including top sites , Internet Traffic Stats and Metrics, Related Links. Google provide the page rank of the site.

Google page rank concept is different from Alexa rank. Google estimates a value called page rank for every page based on some factors like links, quality content and some more factor. Alexa rank is entirely based on traffic. Alexa is determines its rank from its tool bar. If people viewing your site has alexa tool bar installed in their browser, Alexa ranking improves.

Google PR can be calculated by considering particular page's quality and backlinks, whereas Alexa rank can be calculated by considering site's traffic.

Google Page Rank as a tool designed to rank a website that is listed in the Google search index. A Pagerank of a web page is given on a scale of 0-10. 0 is the lowest possible score for a website and conversely a 10 is the highest score possible. on the other hand side Alexa rank websites based solely on traffic to the website. Alexa rank websites in descending order towards 0, where the most highly visited website on the Internet is given a rank of 0. At this point in time the top three ranked websites (most visitors) on Alexa are, 0 - Yahoo, 1 - Google and 2 - MySpace. According to Alexa these 3 websites get the most traffic on the Internet. Alexa Rankings vary from 1 to a billion. Every web site in the world is included in the Alexa Rank, so the scale on your Alexa ranking is constantly changing in relation to other websites on the Internet.

Exactly right, i agree with you.

Alexa Rank is a ranking system set by alexa.com (a subsidiary of amazon.com) that gives a rough indication of the traffic your website is getting. The lower your rating on Alexa the better.

Google PageRank, on the flip-side, shows the total quality of all incoming links to your site. It doesn't guarantee your rankings but still... the higher the PR, the better

Though it is futile to run after them...both are useless!

Google rank according to quality of your site or according to back links and Alexa rank is according to traffic.

Dont forget that tracking you Alexa rank is as important as having a rank. However, if your domain has a rank over 100,000 (most do) then Alexa do not provide a way of doing this. A neat tool to do exactly this is TrackAlexa dot Com. It provides 90 days tracking facility for any domain.

Google page rank shows the quality of incoming links from other websites through toolbar and alexa ranks a website on page views.
