Do Follow is an attribute associated with links between sites. Any link on the internet is either Do Follow or No Follow.
A link that is Do Follow counts as a backlink and as such give authority to the site that is linked to. This helps it place higher in the search engine results pages.

This is true, and search engine spiders crawl and notice do follow links seriously.

Dofollow is an attribute value of a link, which tells search engines that the link should influence the target-link’s ranking in the search engine’s index and crawl towards the target link.

Do follow links are the only ones counted by Google for PageRank (PR) calculation purposes.

Dofollow allow search engine to follow the link and visit the page. But actually dofollow is "No Nofollow". In coding there is nothing like do follow. You can put rel="nofollow" to make nofollow links but you will never use rel="dofollow" to make your link dofollow but if you you use it will be ignored by search engines. If you are not putting nofollow attributes in your link it means by default it is "dofollow"

    Code:
    <a href="http://www.google.com/"> Google </a>
At this moment the link is do follow.

    Now notice this

    Code:
    <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.google.com/" > Google </a>
When Google bot comes to your site it sees that the link has nofollow attribute attached. So it will not pass on the page rank, but it will index it.

The point is when a link doesn't have rel="nofollow" attribute attached to it, it's unofficially called dofollow.

By the way rel="nofollow" is only used by Google.

    Hope this helps.
Thank you for your great reply. It helps me understand on do-follow clearly.
