Yes both are important, xml sitemap is for spider purpose and html sitemap is for user friendly purpose.

As seo purpose both are important but xml is more important than other.

Both sitemap are good to be kept on the site, but if you don't have the html sitemap then there would be a xml sitemap on your site, It's a good way to have xml sitemap on your site and that should be verified also from the google webmaster tool.

And in my opinion xml sitemap is more important. We can see this by another view as we have site with huge page then it would be difficult to maintain a html sitemap, so having xml sitemap is good for your site for faster indexing your site in Google.

One (XML) is specially for Search engine robots and one (HTML) is for Users.

I think both are important.

XML sitemap is for crawl your site in Search engine
HTML sitemap shows all web pages detail.

Search Engines follow xml sitemaps only.

Both xml and html sitemap is good Xml for robot and html for human.

Both sitemap is beneficial, XML sitemap is beneficial for search engine point of view and HTML sitemap is useful for users point of view.

HTML Sitemap is used by the visitors visiting the website and XML sitemap is used by the crawlers crawling the website...so both are important form SEO point of view...

Both are Important:
XML necessary for Google Crawler.
HTML for user Point of view.

Both of them are important when you are making a sitemap for your site..HTML is for the user while XML is for the bots..
