Default Updating existing pages that are not indexed

It gives me immense pleasure to say that I created over 150 pages for my site some months ago. Sadly, just about 50 to 70 pages were indexed. Gradually that number came down to 10-20. I guess one of the possible reasons could be lack of content on those pages. Do you think it is a sensible idea to improve these pages with quality content? Should I update these pages with informative content to solve the issue? Or do you suggest I create fresh pages with different URLs? What would be the best course of action? Please give your suggestions.

No, contents do not dictate the index rate of your pages. It is perhaps due to your linking structure. Make sure that all of your pages are linked from the homepage, one to two clicks away is more advisable. Also, you have to create your sitemap, include it in your website as another HTML page, and submit an XML version of the sitemap to the webmaster tools in the major search engines. In addition, you can also ping your website in pinging services, such as pingomatic.com and pingoat.com for search engines to find your website.
