High competitive keyword are only good if your website has pr >5.

depends on what you want to do with it. if you just wanna earn some bucks from a blog using ppc ads then competitive kw would be better, bcs they usually have better ecpm.

You ask two things i always prefer Google adword for selection..2nd title tags are about 65 to 80 ..In my discussion with many of gurus in this business they suggest to have more then 65 if Google not add them then it will truncate them but they are not harmful.same for keywords 250 character i have for my site.

My opinion is at the beginning you can target for low competitive keywords after getting some amount of traffic you can try for high competitive keywords.

Tips for the Keywords:
- Be creative, but be choosy.
- Try not to target keyword phrases that are too competitive.
- If there are unusual words associated with your content that you think people might search for, or misspellings, include them sparingly.

Keyword research
Use the keyword research tools and try to think of the main keywords people would enter into a search engine.

It depends what you're trying to achieve. For Google Adsense earnings competitive keywords give better income cpc but need a lot of work to beat the competition!

Its better that you go with low competative keyword in the begining, as it will help you gain some traffic and high SERP. And also low competative keywords will give you some time to establish your self in market for some time atleast.

Choose the keywords with regard to the content on your website. Check google analytics for analyzing which keyword has the maximum searches, and then choose that keyword.
