Yup Anchor text is very important for SEO point of view it's paly very important role for ranking of your site in major Search Engine..

Anchor text is clickable text that is a link.If the anchor text is made up from your keywords it has more weight in google.You are getting link to your website using your keywords it is an important aspect in seo.

If the backlink would act as a vote for your site, then the anchor text would be the contents that vote for.
