Please rate the best link building strategiesHere are five rather easy back link strategies. Assumed you have the time or resources to get quality articles written, hub pages content produced, forum profile signatures created and manual directory submissions.
How would you sort following back link techniques by SEO benefits! I know diversification would be best, but I would like to know your preferences.
Paid Links
Forum Signature
Article Directory
Web Directory Submission
Hub Pages creation (Squidoo or Hubpages)

My choice of preferences for the link building technique shall be in the following order whereby it will start with article directory. Next shall be forum signature, hug pages creation, web directory submission and lastly paid urls. The final option using paid urls is not a recommended technique because you will actually have to spend money and you also risk the chance of getting removed from search engine. Google has repeatedly mentioned that they will penalize sites using this method, so therefore I've never used it.

As for me, forum signature and blog commenting have the greatest exposure though I do social bookmarking and directories submission.

don't do it... never will (except for PPC perhaps) but things like buying sig links or anything, wont do it...
a nice way to build backlinks and traffic... a great source of traffic if done right... take this forum for example, those with SEO links, do you think that with all the crap post that they make people will still visit their sites? no. in fact there is already a list of all the members here who has SEO sites who are crap posters, the list is for those "I will never use this SEO service" list... poor crap posters..
depends on the article sites, there are but only a few that brings in traffic and backlinks... choosing and testing which ones will help you is the best way to start it out.
not that much
definitely... what I like about squidoo lenses is that they are easy to create and they are easy to rank. specially if you have a great content. distributing it comes automatic....

My ratings for those five.,
#1 Hub Pages creation (Squidoo or Hubpages)
#2 Article Directory
#3 Forum Signature
#4 Web Directory Submission
I don't like this one - Paid Links

I'm a big fan of forum links. Not signature links because I see them as a benefit for traffic, not for link building, but including your website in a subtile way does miracles. It's a life time backlink which will be read over and over again

After that it's true, except that I never saw many benefits from directory submissions
But maybe that's only me?

All techniques are very important. Article submission and forum posting are very helpful...

I don't go for paid links. You can do free submission like blog commenting, article submission, classified ads and forum posting.

If I had to pick only one and only one from the list that you have given, I'd say that I'd stick with creating squidoo lenses. Squidoo lenses are a great way to get one way link and a great way to get traffic as well. They are not that difficult to rank in search engines and from my experience, most of the visitors that comes from my lenses are all targeted.
Paid Links
Forum Signature
Article Directory
Web Directory Submission
Hub Pages creation (Squidoo or Hubpages)
