    Default What about DMOZ?

    Hey Guys,

I heard getting listed in DMOZ is really helpful?

So, what can be the easiest way to me to be listed in DMOZ?

It’s clear that DMOZ editors apply their guidelines religiously, which is good to ensure that only quality sites are listed on DMOZ.

I have a site listed on DMoz, but I dont think it makes a any significant difference at all. Its just another backlink. Only good thing is lot of online directories take the listings from DMoz, so you get free backlinks.

There is no easy way to get listed in DMOZ. Just you need to have a high quality site and follow DMOZ guidelines while submitting your site and have patience.

Getting accepted by DMOZ is a little bit difficult thing. To include your website in the DMOZ directory quickly, become a DMOZ editor for the category in which you have applied to have your website listed.DMOZ will only approve you to edit one category at a time.

DMOZ is a burden on internet now!

Nothing comes out of it - Not traffic, Not Rankings.

DMoz should be sold out to somebody who can take care of things better.

DMOZ is not as popular as it used to. I remember using it to search for sites back when I was still a kid. but lately, its just another ordinary directory for me... i can get my websites listed and rank well in search engines even if they are not listed in DMOZ.

DMOZ is a human-edited directory so getting listed in it means that your site is a quality site once you submit it for apporval.. Google gives importance also to sites which are listed in DMOZ..

DMOZ is typically not a fast indexer best bet is to try not annoying the editors by following their guidelines carefully, and making sure you submit to the correct category/subcategory. Submit it once and chill. you should also chose a category that you are familiar with and can find websites for we are not all that interested in candidates who only join to add their website. As a worldwide organisation most editrors will be doing ohter things (like sleeping) while you were making your posting. We often recommend that people start in a Regional category, such as the town that you live in. If you can demonstrate an ability to add good sites to your location category than you become eligible for more categories. Go here Becoming an Editor and follow the instructions on the page.

DMOZ is not a listing service, so there is no guarantee that your site will be listed. It can take from a few days to a few years to get a review for a possible listing. As mallin says suggest a site and then go away and try to promote your site elswhere you can nothing and can loose a lot by re-submitting a site.
