How many times you ads served by Google on your targeted keywords as sponsor’s links that numbers called Impression. Mainly impression matters when you want to count CTR (Click through Rate). And CTR is matters for your keyword bids.
Clicks are one of the actions on ads which are done by users and they redirect on your landing page.
Hope this information will help you in your research.
Cheers

An impression is when an ad has been shown on a page. A click is when someone actually clicks on the ad.

Impression : The no. of times your ad gets displayed to a user eventhough he/she doesn't click on your ad.
Clicks : The no. of clicks that your ad received.
CTR (click through rate) : It helps show how your ads are performing. The more relevant your ads are, the more often users will click on them, resulting in a higher CTR.

I think a click occurs when a user sees your ad, finds that it meets their needs & expectations, and then clicks on the title of the ad. This, of course, sends them to the your website, where the site itself has a chance to do its stuff.

When you visit a website, you will see that there is adds on the page. These are known as banners. Each time the banner loads for the visitor to view, an impression is counted. Impressions are generally used like ads in a magazine, every time you see the ad it counts as an impression.
If the advert on the website interests you, you will click on the ad which will redirect you to the landing page of the advertiser – this is known as a click.

With Pay Per Click (PPC) the advertiser pays when a user clicks on the ad.
With Pay Per Impression the advertiser pays each time the ad is displayed to a user. Rates are typically per 1000 impressions (CPM). Pay Per Click is generally a much more cost effective method for advertisers as it ensures advertisers only pay for traffic received from their efforts, rather than simply paying for impressions.
