I am totally new to this trend known as "Link Exchange"

Just provide me what are the steps for link exchange.

The basic meaning of link exchange is in itself exchanging of links.. Basically, you agree with a fellow webmaster to put on each other's website your individual links. Link exchanges is meant to rank high your individual sites in SERPs..

can you please give some examples of that...

For example:

A has a site for Roses and B has a site for Sunflowers.. Since A and B have sites referring to flowers, A contacted B and ask him if he would like to exchange link with. B agreed.

Afterwards, A provided B with the link code to be put in B's Sunflower site. If a visitor clicks on this link in B's sunflower site, the visitor would be referred to A's Rose site. The same happens with B. B will give a link code to A to be placed in A's Roses site.

There, I hope this example helps. I made it as basic as I can.
