It is the process of managing the server where the website itself sits.

The process of making website appearance good and interactive with the help of designing by web designers or web design company is known as web design where as web hosting is the process of providing the server space to the different type of the websites.

Web designing basically is about the look and the feel of the websites, the way the website is designed is what web designing refers to. Well you explained diff b/w web hosting and webdesign but i have one doubt to do this we need any tools like FTP?

Webdesign is making something that you can host.

Webdesign is nothing but to design a website.Website is a collection of webpages.
Webhosting is nothing but everyone access your website through internet.
