AVOID THAT LIKE THE PLAGUE !! Nothing can kill your site faster than inappropriate use of flash (and javascript). Avoid "inroduction pages" as landing pages altogether.

Bottom-line: A good banner is useful but if you just have that, one good banner, it won't attract any visitors.
