Thread: My Google review

I wrote a review recently about Google for some other site and I thought I should share it with you. I could write on forever about Google but I had to cut some stuff so please don't be too harsh.

Alright so this post is for my love towards google. Google began in 1998, I think and it has been around for now 10 years. Within these 10 years, Google has not only become the most famous and used search engine but I think it has probably also become the most expansive and successful network (of sites) on the internet. Everything that Google has looked foreword to achieving, it has achieved. And it did not just achieve it, It DOMINATED it. It is perfect at almost everything.

First of all, Google has a killer design and layout. And what is it really? It is just an empty white page with only 25% of it filled. That is the strategy of Google. The page is so simple, easy to use and clean that everyone wants to use it. This is something that other search engines missed on. Yahoo and MSN have a bunch of useless stuff on their homepage that no one looks at. Google realized that as soon as it began and gave searchers a page dedicated only to searches and nothing else. People set Google as their homepage because it was one of the fastest loading pages. Furthermore, there are very few ads in the search results with no graphics. Searches are made within fractions of a second. This is something that other search engines struggle to achieve. Most of the ads that Google displays are simple text ads that hardly slow down the internet.

Furthermore, another great thing is Google's innovative multi-colored logo. I am sure you have all noticed how the logo keeps changing every few days depending on the occasion. To me, it makes GOOGLE seem a little more realistic and interesting compared to other search engines. When I first started using Google, I would go to its homepage everyday just to see what the logo looked like today. Also, Google's homepage has nothing and thus the logo grabs a lot of attention from searchers.

Now, I have been talking about how google's page is so empty but Google itself operates in several fields. They are involved in almost everything that others are involved in. They have Google News, Google Maps, Adsense, Webmaster, Google Earth. They have been working on several different projects that it is really difficult for me to name them all here. Adsense has spread to almost every site owner and even bloggers. It is a great way for everyone to earn from free space on their site regularly. Their are people who are making fortunes from Adsense for no work at all. Adsense is a great strategy by Google to spread its reach to virtually everyone on the internet. A lot of different ad programs have emerged in the last few years but they are still nothing compared to Google Adsense.

Google also own great individual sites such as Blogger and YouTube. There are millions of blogger users in the world. People seem to be crazy about blogging. I, myself, have around six or seven blogs. Bloggers can also easily use Adsense on their blogs and easily earn money. Additionally, YouTube brought google a fortune, literally. Lots and Lots of users use You Tube everyday. Sharing videos is a fever that started with You Tube and miraculously ends with You Tube. You can find almost everything there...videos in different languages, from different nations etc.

Furthermore, Google Maps is a piece of masterwork. You can see every single street and get most accurate directions easily. Also, the best part of Google maps is that you do not only get to see street names and stuff but you actually get to see satellite images of the roads. I can actually see my house from Google Maps in both America and India! It is truly Amazing.

Finally, I would like to wish Google good luck in future. It has been doing a great job and I hope it stays simple and innovative

However, I just feel that it is getting somewhat complacent. It seems to be taking for granted that it has a huge base of fans.
