Thread: How about some boiled crawfish

Anyone here eat crawfish? My wifes birthday was a couple of weeks ago, we boiled 71 pounds of crawfish over about a 2 hour span.

To go along with the crawfish we had sausage on the grill, boudain, chips, dip and other snacks.

In all, we probably had about 20 people show up.

Yes, it was great - my mom and dad dropped by, my nephew, my kids, grand kids, some friends of the family.

for my wifes birthday I got her a Canon EF 75-300mm lens for her camera. She did not know that she got a new lens until she opened the box.

I just checked if we have them here in the north side. Looks like its a fresh water fish mostly grown in Louisiana. I guess i gotta stay satisfied with its cousin lobster

Yep, they grow across the lower gulf coast.

The local rice farmers grow crawfish in their rice fields. All along interstate 10 between beaumont and houston there are flooded rice fields along the highway. Maybe ever 100 feet or so in the water there is a white ball floating on top of the water. The rice farmers will use a boat, go out to the white ball, pull up the trap and dump it into a big container.

The rice fields are miles long.

Think of something like a perch trap, that is kinda like what a crawfish trap looks like.

Boiled crawfish are kind of funny. Almost everyone that first looks at them think that they are disgusting.
