Yeah! I also have Windows 7 on my laptop now.

And I am really happy with all the widgets and new GUI they offered us this time, far better than Vista and XP. I hope the widgets.

    Hi

hose directions both require having Vista/W7 as a host pc in order to partition a thumbdrive and make it bootable. OP stated that he only has XP.

I did this recently, made a 4gb sandisk cruzer micro bootable to install win7. All the instructions I found required having Vista/W7. The diskpart utility runs differently with xp. I did not find a way using xp has the host pc to create the bootable usb drive.

However, I used my virtual install of Windows 7 running on my xp box to get through the initial steps of partitioning the thumb drive, then using my xp host pc to copy the contents of the win7 rc is to the thumb drive. The thumb drive works like a charm.

I used Sun VirtualBox which supports usb in the virtual environment.

    Thanks
    Have a nice time ahead.

Here some Introduction about the Windows 7 AppLocker

Windows 7 addresses the growing desire for application control solutions in the enterprise with the introduction of AppLocker: a simple and flexible mechanism that allows administrators to specify exactly what is allowed to run in their desktop environment. As a result, AppLocker provides not only security protections, but also operational and compliance benefits by:
    * Keeping unlicensed software from running in your desktop environment
    * Preventing vulnerable, unauthorized applications from running in your desktop environment, including malware
    * Stopping users from running applications that needlessly consume network bandwidth or otherwise impact the enterprise computing environment
    * Preventing users from running applications that destabilize their desktop environment and increase helpdesk support costs
    * Easing enterprise software deployments and maintenance through effective desktop configuration management
    * Allow users to install and run approved applications and software updates based upon their business needs
    * Helping ensure your desktop environment is in compliance with corporate policies and industry regulations such as PCI DSS, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, Basel II, and others

I am currently using Vista but I can't wait to upgrade to Windows 7. I've been hearing a lot of nice reviews about the OS.

    Hi
Now I'm using Vista. But I decide to move on windows 7.You know some of them offered in the Enterprise and Ultimate versions, so, no, there is no legal way to get them without upgrading.
