IMO, you need to work with your cross browser coding to make your site be compatible with different browsers..

I think operating system has to do nothing with the apprearance of the site, it's the browser which are responsible for these sort of problem. So Cross browsing before launch website should be given a due consideration.

What version IE? Older ones auto correct errors in what IE thinks the webmaster was trying to accomplish. I would work on making it look good on FF, and then work backwards fixing things to make look the same on IE. You will have less issues in the end.

Bad advice. FF may now be winning the game, but it manages 47% of the market share. Browser Statistics

Firefox runs on various versions of Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and many other Unix-like operating systems. Its current stable release is version 3.5, released on June 30, 2009[update].[9] Firefox's source code is free software, released under a tri-license GNU GPL/GNU LGPL/MPL.[10] Official versions are distributed under the terms of a proprietary EULA.[11][12]
