    Default Marketing by Protesting

Protest got big power if you do it right. To have success on this you gotta be one of the firsts, otherwise you will miss the train.

The idea is creating a campaign protesting something and you market your site in an indirect manner. The target should be a good brand, somebody well-known. If you talk about your little-known site people would hardly listen but if you talk about somebody reputed lot of people would listen; thats the trick here.

    Examples:
    Yahoo Redesign Protest:

As you know Yahoo is having a big redesign of their site. Now if you start a blog protesting it, it will catch easy attention. You gotta have some solid articles on the site and make some legit points why you think its not good. You can spice it up doing things like signature collection etc.

As you know everything needs marketing. So you have to market this one as well. But the brand your are protesting for should help you a lot in marketing.

    Facebook?
I know some people are protesting the design changes. You may try, but its probably little late now.

ah yes...this is a popular method...i remember the day Chrome came out...there were people writing about how crappy it is after few hours...i mean at least use it for sometime before reaching such a conclusion.

This is also one of the tactics for promotion by spreading negative ideas for the thing.
