Do blog comments work when you use your name?
I've found a lot of great websites that allow blog comments, but the only problem is that you have to use your name. When your name becomes the anchor text when you do a blog comment, does this help you to rank better in Google? Does this look weird at all to Google? Any comments would be appreciated, thanks very much.

It will be pretty much beneficial than using keyword. The comment will be more genuine and will also help in getting traffic for your website because comment will be just for adding some more information and not just for backlink.

Most comment links are nofollow. So google is not interested in them, but other search engines might follow the link.

I would have thought it depends on what settings each blog has.

I always use one of my main keyword as my user name. yeah! if you use the main keyword as your user name then without any doubt it can be helpful for SEO.

It is more beneficial if we use the main keyword of the website as your user name in blog commenting and the post must be convincing to the author because it contributes to the content.

If the back-link is a NOFOLLOW then it is common belief that the anchor text used is not important. If you CAN use keywords then it is prefferable but it should not be the be-all-and-end-all of your linking campaign. You should build these types of links to gain traffic and authority to your website. Find other blogs in your niche and offer advice, debate etc. Also dont forget to build links to deep pages, not just your homepage. The more natural your link building efforts are, ie; changing your anchor text (use synonms as google understands the relation between them occasionally), building links to different pages. The more successful your overall search campaign will be.
