Signature Advertising: The Saga Continues...
I did not include the links for ethical reason... links are available at original article posted at my blog.
Signature Advertising: The Saga Continues
This is actually a sequel of my previous article "Ultimate Guide To Signature Advertising", In this article, I further discuss highly-effective and less effective forums.
You may see below the lists of different webmasters and moneymaking forums where I am a member since then. The ranking is based on the effectiveness of signature links and not the forum traffic or number of members. Big membership is not actually the main factor for effective signature advertising. Reading this article might not help you unless you do even just a part of what I explained in Guide to Signature Advertising.
Factors affecting the effectiveness of signature advertising.
Signature Appearance. I consider signature appearance as number one factor because its actually the main reason why people click on it. A colored and attractive signature can steal reader's attention. Signature in plain text is less attractive, same as signatures that are not in bold.
Signature Restriction/Rules. This is the main reason why I don't stay much on forums where I cannot do what I want on my signatures. For example, Warriorforum and Webtalkforums does not allow color BB code so I ranked them lower.
Number of Members. Of course this is one of the major factors but not the main. The 2 above are still the reasons why I stay on forums ( even with lesser members) where my signature shows the way I want. More members means more people can see your signature.
Quality of Post. if your thread is high quality, informative, and appealing, a reader is not contented reading your post and will definitely click your signature to check your other work. Post a crap and people will stay away from your next posts.
Your Attitude as a Forum Member. Slightly the same with Quality Post but this is more specific. This includes how you respond to other's posts especially in arguments. Always be cool.
Forum Activity, Design, and Usability. People do not really stay on forums that are not user-friendly so the exposure of your signature is minimal. Webtalkforums as an example, has a lot of annoying sub-forums and categories and making me lazy to navigate.
The following lists of forums are just part of around 60 forums where I am a member. Don't think that I am posting daily to these 60 forums. I am not even posting daily on the following 10 forums except for the top 5 on the lists. I personally ranked these based on my activity and the factors I mentioned above. The statistics is today's result and I don't have plan to update them in the future. Just visit each forum to see the current site stat. The data is just a reference.
Digital Point - Webmaster Forums
Threads: 948,010, Posts: 8,573,128, Members: 195,733
Domain Record Created: April 1, 1999
Average thread per member: 4.8 Average post per member: 43.8
Average users online: 2,235 (895 members and 1340 guests)
Digitalpoint is where I am spending around 5 hours daily reading and posting. There is nothing I can say against DP except for the lesser moderator activity that sometime causes spammers sneaked within the folders. Compared to other forums DP is still the best place to hang-out. As long as you are following the rules and forum ethics, there is no limit in doing your signature campaign. It has an Adsense Revenue Sharing program for members.
Site Point - Programmers and Webmasters Forum
Threads: 537,064, Posts: 3,847,492, Members: 276,995
Domain Record Created: October 4, 1999
Average thread per member: 1.9 Average post per member: 13.8
Average users online: 1,740 (470 members and 1270 guests)
Look for professional threads and post with tight but fair and just moderators; SP has it all. Similar to DP, signatures in SP can attract visitors without any hindrance. SP, though slightly behind DP in terms of activity is still my second best webmaster forum. Moderators here are friendly and visible at all times. Most posts and threads are of high quality.
Dreamteammoney - Webmaster and Moneymaking Forums
Posts 517,505, Members: 37,353
Domain Record Created: November 2, 2005
Average post per member: 13.8
Average users online: 508 (187 members and 321 guests)
Though DTM is not so active compared to SP and DP, the friendly attitude of Admin and and old members is enough to make me stay. Admin is very generous enough to offer Forum Folder to Myseoblog.net. One of the best thing I like in this forum is, it allows banner on signature.
Namepros - Domain name forum, sales, and appraisal.
Threads: 490,597, Posts: 2,964,631, Members: 105,863
Domain Record Created: Jan 4, 2003
Average thread per member: 4.6 Average post per member: 28
Average users online: 3115 (476 members and 2,639 guests)
Namepros.com is one of the best forums to join and the signature is highly visible. It has a lot of members online but the activity is lesser. I can see my threads viewed hundred times but response is low. But I don't see any problem as long as they are reading my posts. I don't have anything against namepros but one of the Moderators really make me wonder why Namepros is keeping him.. LOL. I've been a global moderator of 2 large forums from 2001 to 2006 but I never had an attitude like his. Read this thread and evaluate. Take out that moderator from your mind and Namepros is still a better forum for signatures.
V7N Forums - Webmaster and Moneymaking Forum
Threads: 92,695, Posts: 917,451, Members: 47,362
Domain Record Created: March 8, 2004
Average thread per member: 1.9 Average post per member: 19.3
Average users online: 608 (82 members and 526 guests)
V7N Forums is another big contributor to my daily traffic. Though signature is limited to 2 links and you must have 50 posts to let your signature appear, V7N has a good color combination and is user-friendly.
Code4gold.com - Affiliate, Entrepreneur, and Moneymaker Forum
Threads: 14,583, Posts: 142,693, Members: 13,126
Domain Record Created: Feb 21, 2006
Average thread per member: 1.1 Average post per member: 10.87
Average users online: 1,560 (52 members and 1,508 guests)
Code4gold is a best place for serious online moneymakers. Admin is very observant to posts and threads and it's always better for a forum that has active admin. C4G offer a highly-visible signature spot making it one of the best forums to join.
Ewealth- Affiliate and Webmaster Forum
Domain Record Created: Feb 13, 2004
Threads: 16,656, Posts: 129,258
Some records not available as hidden by admin. Ewealth, like V7N forum delivers good output in signature advertising. Though I do not see the actual forum stat, the traffic it sending to Myseoblog.net tells me that Ewealth has really a lot of wealth in signature advertising..
Webtalkforums.com- Webmaster Forum
Threads: 12,324, Posts: 174,522, Members: 3,952
Domain Record Created: October 13, 2005
Average thread per member: 3.1 Average post per member: 44
Average users online: 518 (132 members and 386 guests)
Webtalkforums is another better-than-other forum that has a high member activity. As you see on the average post per member, 44 is pretty high. There are just 2 things I don't really like at Webtalkforums. First is the signature restriction on color and second is the number of categories and sub-forums. As I mentioned above, I don't like forums with a lot of sub-folders. Not user-friendly to me. Webtalkforums somehow delivered traffic to Myseoblog last couple of months but I lessen my activity there due to other priorities. It is a revenue-sharing forum.
Talkgold - Hyip, Moneymaking, and Webmasters Forum
Threads: 187,509, Posts: 2,512,198, Members: 110,797
Domain Record Created: Jan 2, 2003
Average thread per member: 1.7 Average post per member: 22.6
Average users online: 780 (87 members and 693 guests)
Never been active as what is was before when HYIPs and Autosurfs were dominating the Ecurreny world but TG can still bring the traffic through its rich signature space. Just post in non-HYIP related folders and stay away from HYIPs.
Warrior Forum - Affiliate, Moneymaking, and Webmaster Forum
Threads: 3,108, Posts: 28,386, Members: 92,673
Domain Record Created: April 18, 2001
Average thread per member: 0.03 Average post per member: 0.30
Average users online:1,218 (629 members and 689 guests)
I don't really know if there was a major modification made in this forum why the average thread and post per member is very low. I remember it uses different script before. Anyway, disregard my personal observation and do the signature business. WF has a lot of members ready to click your signature.
Well I think I delivered enough words here. And before I forgot, new forums are one of the best place to join too considering most members wanted to establish themselves so why don't join the party. Build your own reputation too. Early bird catches the worm and one example is the new Webcosmoforums.com . It also offers a large space for your signature.
As I mentioned, I am a member of around 60 different but I don't need to mention others for they are available in the Content Lists.

I don't get it ... why is this supported?
intellectual = inter lecture (in latin) = reading between the lines
sorry, but I read this between the lines: "how to abuse a forum"
sure, if you have signatures, then better use them right, but she actually determines which forums are good based on the level of abuse the forum would tolerate
what about joining a forum for the topic, for the people, for learning and sharing?
no? no good reasons? only for spamming?
Yes, I see this kind of postings as spam !
spam = self promotion and marketing,
so it's rather obvious to me that spam is the only motivation here ... shameful
I really don't understand that this kind of blind selfishness is tolerated
if this is the standard in this forum, then this is my last post ... good luck with it !

I really understand what you are saying buddy but i am sure that's not what the silverdan intended to mean. He is just providing some info to others about marketing. And no one intends to spam but while we are active at the forums, why not get ourselves some traffic? This will also be beneficial to the other member since they will discover some new content.
And please don't go. I really like your posts...always useful and honest

Yeah. I think the point being made is to not just join and spam, but actually contribute to the forum while advertising your site. Not only will it make your site seem more attractive but it will help develop the forum's community, and you could end up helping people out.

The best part is the free back links.

this is what puts me off:
thing is, that she puts digital first and that's says enough to me; sure, huge amount of traffic, you can turn your signature into a kindergarden picture etc. This is the main reason why I don't stay much on forums where I cannot do what I want on my signatures. For example, Warriorforum and Webtalkforums does not allow color BB code so I ranked them lower.
but then gain; check the quality, it's really very, very hard to find some quality in there, most of the treads and post are crap, too much junk there ...
if I would hire somebody to post for me; I would never hire somebody who's inable to determine the true value of a forum
I would prefer somebody who will post in forums where the $2000/month spending clients are, not a forum that's over populated with the $20 per year 16 year old amateurs ...
just my 2 Baht ...
cheers,
Michiel
