Those servers can be dedicated to a specific site ("dedicated servers" - which is expensive) or shared between several clients and web sites (which is much more affordable). This is called "shared web hosting". All offers on this page are shared hosting.

The drawback of shared hosting is that if the hosting company shares too few servers between too many clients, then your site could become dramatically slow. This can be acceptable to some level if your primary concern is price (see our cheap hosting page). However, studies have shown that if your home page takes more than 10 seconds to load, visitors will start to abandon your site. Our process for selecting, evaluating and ranking web hosting companies and their offers includes:

• Reputation. We have reviewed all well known web hosting companies as well as the ones suggested by our users. Please use our feedback form to submit your own suggestions.

• Speed. For our web hosting reviews, we set up private test sites in order to verify the specs beyond the ads. • Support. This is tricky to evaluate. Because the quality of support sometimes varies from one support representative to the next, we kindly ask you to share your experience in the comments section for your host. Unfortunately this also attracts fake comments (sometimes from competitors, sometimes from the hosts themselves). We try to moderate but we reckon this is not 100% failsafe.
