I have been trying to get a DMOZ listing (also applied as an editor) for a while now… Will try to submit it again after removing a couple of my referral links (they hate them, I hear)…
Thanks for the wonderful post.

Don't keep re-submitting your site. You do not know that it has not been used, it is highly likely it sits and waits until an editor chooses to work in that area and chooses to look at suggestions. If it is there re-submitting can be detrimental to gatting a review because you keep overwriting the date stamp on it and if you do it enough you can get yourself banned for life as a spammer.
Good luck with the application to be an editor.

It can take from a few days to a few years to get a review for a possible listing. Whatever you do do not re-submit.
Did you check out the guidelines to see if your site complied and carefully select the right category. Did you read the guidelines about titles and descriptions?
Firstly the site does have to be compliant with guidelines or it will simply not be listed, but check the other things will just help speed up a review. My opinions are my own and do not represent DMOZ directory, staff or other editors.

Though Dmoz listing is the most powerful backlink that a website can have. But it is not the only source of good backlink. There are many directories. Try submitting on those. Your ranking will surely increase. I can give you million+ example of site doing well without Dmoz. So my suggestion is try your luck for Dmoz but dont overdo.

DMOZ is extremely slow. I too agree that the human editors are either too lazy or DMOZ should increase thei human resource.heheee

Pay some bucks to this corrupt DMOZ Editor(but honest to deal because he lists after taking money)-> http://www.freelancer.com/users/feedback_2198118.html
This is just an example. Search properly the web, you will find tons of corrupt DMOZ editors.

Don't forge t those "lazy" editors are all vomunteers and work in their spare time. You willing to give up your spare time to help so a few more get listed?

The best scam on the internet is to promise to get a site listed in DMOZ.Pay some bucks to this corrupt DMOZ Editor(but honest to deal because he lists after taking money)-> http://www.freelancer.com/users/feedback_2198118.html
This is just an example. Search properly the web, you will find tons of corrupt DMOZ editors.
No editor 'owns' a category and hundreds of editors can and do edit in any category, so a site that should not be listed will not stay long (NO site is guaranteed a listing or to stay listed). Also the editor will not stay long and the site listed will be banned for ever. Now if you really want to get in do you want to risk either getting money taken from you and no listing OR your site banned for ever from DMOZ?My opinions are my own and do not represent DMOZ directory, staff or other editors.
