Apache fails when it comes to serving lots of users. But it's known and gets the job done. IIS works great for ASP and Windows based services. ngxinx and other HTTPd services are going to slowly overtake Apache.

Most of the people use Apache and other webservers are generally used when you require something specific or custom.

The first thing that you want to explore that which server is best so it is right that the Linux Apache server has the ability to handle traffic easily and keep its performance with security but the Windows has the lack of such things. And which stats you want to collect so it will be easy for others to share the views and give you some information.
